What should I bring on the day for the fishing charter?

We recommend passengers to wear comfortable clothing of a lightweight material for most days and occasions. It is also advised to bring along a jumper and/or windproof jacket. Appropriate shirts and enclosed footwear must be worn at all times during the charter, no spike soled rock fishing boots to be worn.
Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat are also recommended.
Snacks / food (there is limited space on the boat, so please no large eskies).
No glass is permitted on the boat.
Beach Shack Fishing Charter recommends you discuss with your healthcare professional about the possibility of sea sickness. Beach Shack Fishing Charters do not supply seasickness tablets. It is recommended that passengers use seasickness tablets according to doctor's advice and personal needs. In the event a passenger gets seasick, Beach Shack Fishing Charters is not obligated to bring any passenger back to the harbour until the charter is completed. Prospector is a large vessel but on the odd occasion seasickness can occur.

Do I need to be fully vaccinated?

The Queensland Government has relaxed its rules around COVID vaccination as of 14 April 2022 and therefore full vaccination is no longer required.

Is there a toilet onboard?

Prospector has a fully enclosed toilet with a full freshwater handbasin onboard .

Can I bring alcohol?

Alcohol is permitted on board the vessel but must be brought in moderate amounts. For the safety of passengers and crew, no glass is permitted on the boat. Any person believed to be either intoxicated or under the influence of any drugs will not be permitted to embark the vessel for the charter, or will be offloaded at the closest possible location effective immediately.

Can I bring my own fishing gear?

Passengers are welcome to bring their own fishing gear on their charters. Please notify us at the time of the booking.

What happens if I accidentally damage any equipment?

Beach Shack Fishing Charters provides its customers with quality fishing equipment. This includes rod, reel, lines, bait, and tackle on all general charters and operates on a loss/replace basis. This means that any loss or damage to our equipment or damage to our vessel or another vessel caused by accident, negligence or unruly behaviour, passenger(s) involved will be liable and responsible for the replacement or repair of the item or items at retail cost. Passengers are welcome to bring their own fishing gear on their charters. Please notify us at the time of the booking.

I am a little new to fishing or have not fished in a long time. Can I get some assistance to set up and help with landing any fish?

Yes, tuition can be provided and our crew can bait your hooks, remove your fish and put your catch in the chiller on ice.

Can I keep my catch?

Yes, as long as it is within the regulation size, season, personal and boat limits (the skipper will advise during the charter) and is for your personal consumption. We will keep the fish on ice in our esky until we come back ashore.
